NEW AI Dialogue Separator: MUTE VOICE KEEP AMBIENT NOISE in DaVinci Resolve 19 - In this DaVinci Resolve 19 editing tutorial Alli shows you how to use the NEW AI audio Dialogue Separator tool so you can do things like mute someone's voice while keeping the ambiance heard or adjust the volume of the background noise! It's a pretty incredible new feature!
I'm going to show you how unreal and easy to use DaVinci Resolve's new AI tool, Dialog Separator is. This is going to be super helpful if you want to remove someone talking so that you can only hear the ambient background noise. Or if you have someone's voice but you want to lower the background noise so that it's not so distracting. So, turn your speakers up or if you have a good pair of headphones like these, throw them on.
Okay, so we have my voice, some chatter in the background, and other random city noises. Since we're going to listen to this a few times, let's turn loop on. Make sure we have Inspector open. This is super easy to miss. So even though I've selected my audio, I still can't see the Dialog Separator. I'm supposed to see it here but to do so you have to select your audio track here, like right here, to be able to see it show up.
Let's turn it on, and we have the option to mute the voice, background, and/or ambience. We can also use these sliders to adjust the intensity of any of them. Let's play around and see what Dialog Separator can do. Let's see if Dialog Separator can get super impressive, like holy moly, that just completely removed my voice so that we're just hearing the background noise.
Okay, let's see what else we can do here. Okay, so when we mute background as well, you can hear my voice sounding stripped down and robotic and like a lower volume. That's not muting the background noise like it's supposed to do in a perfect world. So, depending on the file you're working with and your needs, you'll want to adjust these options and see what gives you the best results.
Let's mess around a little more here. Okay, muting Ambience still leaves some background noise. But actually, with this audio file, I can't even tell what would be considered background noise compared to ambient noise. In fact, in general, to me, those mean the same thing: background noise, ambient noise.
Let's also check out these sliders. The Dialog Separator can get rid of these sound if Dialog Separator can get rid of these sounds. Dialog Separator can get rid of these sounds. Dialog Separator can get rid of these sounds. Nice! So, those sliders make it easy to adjust the volume of the voice, ambience, or background noise.
I did test Dialog Separator out on a file I had of me doing a wedding speech with music baked into it. I wanted to see if I could mute the music and separate my speech and I couldn't.
