If you're a creative person at some point you're gonna just be unmotivated you're gonna find every excuse you can to just not do that video project or go take photos or whatever it is and for me for a long time i would use the excuse i'm a creative person so i just i need to feel into this project to do it and i don't feel like it right now that's all well and good if it's like a hobby that you're doing because then you don't have client obligations you don't have deadlines but when that creative outlet for you becomes a job or career you gotta find ways to get yourself motivated to do that creative thing so in this video i'm gonna share three things that you can do right now to get yourself fired up to get yourself pumped when you're not feeling so motivated [Music] my first go-to is to just start it just start don't put any pressure on yourself to finish the project just give yourself a short period of time to just start set up your tripod put the camera on it and choose a lens when you just start something you kind of realize okay this wasn't as big of a deal as i was making it up to be in my head and it becomes way easier to keep doing it.

Even working on something for just five or ten minutes gets you five or ten minutes closer to completing the project so give it a try just start another thing that you can do to get self-motivated is look at your favorite creators see what they're doing and if you feel like oh they're out taking awesome photos i want to be doing that use that as fuel to push you to go create yourself a lot of creators create because they want to inspire others so check out their stuff get yourself pumped up about it and then go do something about it this next tip is one of my favorites because i'm always pleasantly surprised by the results use a different tool so what i mean by that is if you do photo or video for a living you probably have a go-to lens that you use most of the time when i started in video i'd always use my 24 to 70. i had a telephoto lens i had a 50 mil but i'd always use my 24-70 it was just easier i was comfortable with it and eventually my shots kind of started to feel a little stale so i changed tools i went out for a day shooting b-roll only using my telephoto lens and then i started getting really excited about all the beautiful awesome shots i could get i feel like a i finally started using that lens that i otherwise shied away from and now it's part of my arsenal of lenses to use on shoots.

Again because i'm out there actually filming and doing something creative i get re-motivated to create again if you're a photographer or cinematographer videographer i just said videographer if you're a videographer do what i did and change the lens you're using or if you usually throw your camera on a tripod when you film or take photos use a stabilizer and after you have a little time of getting used to this new tool or piece of equipment you'll start to feel that motivation and excitement so just go for it use that tool or that equipment and you'll see how quickly you get back into the creative flow of things and there you go those are three things that you can do right now usually you'll just need to do one of them to get yourself motivated to create were there any tips in this video i didn't mention that you use if you're feeling unmotivated and you need to do something creative if so let me and other creative people know in the comments below because the more tips we have the better and we have over 100 how-to videos on our channel all about filmmaking and we release new videos regularly so subscribe for the latest we'll see you in another video.
