As someone who wears multiple hats during shoots and can’t solely focus on audio, this recorder has been a dream to work with because you can pretty much set it and forget it. We’ve owned the Zoom F6 for a few years now and used it on many professional shoots to capture up to 6 different people speaking at a time. It’s reliable, easy to use and our favorite thing about it is that it can record 32 bit float which has saved our butt’s more than a time or two.
The F6 is very user-friendly so you’ll pick up how to work with it in no time! It has a 1.54 inch color backlit LCD which makes it very easy to view in both super bright outdoor settings or dark, low lit studios.
With six XLR locking inputs, the Zoom F6 gives you the flexibility to capture a wide range of audio sources all at once whether that be recording interviews, music, sound FX or ambient sounds.
From high-quality mic preamps with up to 75 dB gain to advanced Hybrid Limiters, this recorder is reliable and captures great sounding audio! With accurate Time Code, several ways to capture your audio including on; SD/SDHC/SDXC cards and multiple power options, such as AA batteries, Sony L-Series batteries, or the Zoom AD-17 12V AC Adapter, you have several different ways to keep the F6 charged.
The Zoom F6 is designed to handle the real-world dynamics of audio recording. With 32-bit float and dual-path A/D converters you can capture the quietest and loudest sounds without clipping.
I’ve owned several audio recorders over the years including the H4N and H6 and the F6 definitely offers the most bang for your buck! It is a tool that has served us well over the years and at a price tag of $629.99 USD, it’s been money well spent.
