Converting my video editing desk into a stand up desk; here's the behind the scenes!

When you're sitting all day editing they can kind of wear on your tailbone your back your legs and overall it's just not that healthy so it got me thinking what if I were to convert my current desk into a stand-up desk when I want to stand I can stand when I want to go back to sitting because I'm tired I can go back to sitting they found a stand-up desk that was electric by a company called VEVO and it was about $350 on Amazon let's get some b-roll footage of the actual desk as it is now and then we can compare it at the end of the video with the new desk so let's get some view so right now I have everything on top of the desk so I'll need to shut the computer down and move everything off and then I'll remove the metal legs that I bought from Home Depot those are the current legs of the desk and then from there we'll be able to take the new desk and attach it to the top pieces of the old desk while I'm moving everything I'm gonna set up a motion control to time-lapse so right now I have the five foot cinah slider so I'll start over here with that frame and then after 30 minutes it'll end up over there and it'll capture my whole movement as I move everything off the desk
Okay so through the magic of film it is now on the other side it took half an hour to get from there to there and in film the time-lapse of me taking apart all of this over here alright so I have everything off the desk then I have part of the current desk taken apart I have the one piece down here basically just a mess of things also just a giant clump of cables so next I gotta figure out how to put together the electric standing up desk because there's a lot of pieces and I still have to take apart the current desk two more pieces for that the problem with the last one is if I take those two screws out and those two these legs are just going to fall off so I need to do this carefully I'm going to use an Apple box I think like this with a sandbag to prevent this from fall hi or Chinese Greek yes thank you so much okay let's take a little bit of a break and play some drums I am so hungry I cannot wait to eat oh man what restaurant was this Greek palace
That many beautiful that was delicious I think I'm gonna be here all night because I just realized that there's a piece of this that I haven't figured out yet which is how I'm gonna fit the tray on to the bottom of this of course I could just get rid of the top of the desk but it was cut down from years ago by Ali's grandfather and yeah just it just means a lot to us because it's like 100% maple woods problem at the family farm I really don't want to have to scrap them completely gotta figure that one out I don't know while I'm putting together the stand-up desk I'm gonna have the time lapses controller set to keyframes the first one will be on the right side of the track and it'll be pointing a little bit left and then at the end after half an hour it'll be on the left side of the track with the the camera pointing to the right slightly so over a half an hour period it'll slowly go across and slightly pen and it'll be a really cool time-lapse
It is day 2 of building this stand-up desk I ended up going to bed because I needed a hacksaw and I didn't have one so today I got up went to Canadian Tire picked one up and soon I will be cutting through some of the metal pieces we got the hacksaw the piece I need the cut so I just repositioned the shelf it used to be in the middle but I haxade part of it off and then drilled some holes and repositioned the little bracket and then I cut off the little tab that used to be right here now the the keyboard tray you can sit right in the middle and underneath the desk slide in and out and it won't interfere with a little tab the last thing I need to do before I can put the wood over the top is drill new holes so I've made some Sharpie marks because the wood we have is a different size than what would line up with the the factory holes so I need to use the drill to drill new holes [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right the last steps are to screw down the wood onto the standing desk frame and then to put in the keyboard tray I won't film that stuff because not all that interesting but it's getting close to being done all the wires are connected ready yeah first about your visit but inclusive n
