Most people don't know that once you claim your YouTube URL, you can actually change it again and in fact, you can change it multiple times. In this video, I'm gonna walk you through how to do that:
Happy New Year everybody and welcome back to another video. Let's dive in and talk about how to change your custom YouTube URL in 2020. I'm going to teach you how to change your custom URL on YouTube even though you've already claimed one. A lot of people didn't think you could do this after you claimed it the first time, so I'm gonna show you how you can still do that in 2020.
All right so we're logged into YouTube right now. Log into your YouTube channel and then navigate to channel status and features and you'll see that custom URL we've selected. So this is our custom claimed URL for YouTube so if you go to youtube.com slash Ally and will you'll get to our channel. We used to have our online business name as our URL but since we've decided to make this YouTube channel a little more personal, more of a behind-the-scenes of our lifestyle, we decided to just simply make it Alli and Will. So with the method, I'm going to show you, you're gonna be able to successfully change your YouTube URL to something else even though you've already claimed one.
Go to youtube.com, to your YouTube channel so that you see it up here then we're gonna go to google.com or dot CA and then up at the top right, you want to click on Google account and then once again you have to go up to the top here and then you have to select your YouTube brand account and you'll notice the right one because it'll be your YouTube channel name. So you click on your brand account and then you get to a similar page but this one is for your YouTube channel. You click once more and you go to manage account from here. There's a section for editing your account info and then that will bring you to your brand google page. On this page, you'll see your name site story etc. Under that where it says custom URLs you'll see this is our current youtube.com/ /c / Ali and Will. This is the custom URL that we've claimed. If I wanted to change this again, this is the section you'd do it.
So you first have to remove it and then you're able to add it again so you go to sites you go to edit. It says custom URLs so this is the one we have currently clay all you have to do is click the X here and then this will pop up are you sure you want to remove your custom URL. If you proceed, the URL will no longer direct to your YouTube channel if you would still like a custom URL you'll need to go to YouTube to claim a new one, and that's essentially what you do now. I'm not going to press continue but if you do want to claim a new YouTube URL, you'd hit continue at this point and then you should see that you no longer have a custom URL. Hit OK and I would suggest waiting a few minutes for it to process within their system. So go grab a drink or something and then after that head back on to YouTube go into your creator studio and then go to channel status and features over here at custom URL. You click it enter the new one and then it will allow you to claim your new custom URL. So I checked out a few other YouTube channels for my friends and I noticed that their name on YouTube was different than their URL because they claimed a URL way back in the day and then ended up changing their name but they didn't know that you could actually change your URL. So when I mentioned it to them they were really surprised and it actually helped them to get a new custom URL the same goes for Ali and I. We were able to claim a new one so this process.
