How to Install, Download and Update DaVinci Resolve 20 FOR FREE - Alli shows you, step by step how to download and install DaVinci Resolve 20 for Free! If you already own DaVinci Resolve Studio and are looking to upgrade, this video will also help you out!

DaVinci Resolve 20 just got released. I am so excited about it I'm losing my voice!

In this video, I'm going to show you how to download and install it, and how to upgrade to the latest Studio version. My goal with this video is to make the download and installation process as simple and easy to follow along with as possible. So I hope it helps you out.

I know this video is super simple. If you already have DaVinci Resolve installed or downloaded, you probably don't need to watch it. But if not, you're in the right place!

In the coming weeks, I'm going to be releasing a DaVinci Resolve 20 for beginners tutorial, so to stay in the loop, subscribe to our channel.

Now, let's hop into Resolve and check these out.

First, go to your web browser and search "DaVinci Resolve 20." Click here on DaVinci Resolve 20. Scroll down a bit and you'll see the option to download the free version, or you can buy the Studio paid version, which, if you are a pro editor or you're aiming to start getting paid for your editing work, I highly recommend because it has a ton of useful features and effects. If you want to learn more, check this video out next.

Now, whether you want to download the free version or you've already purchased a previous Studio version and you're just looking to upgrade, you'll need to click the "Free Download Now" button, which will bring up this window with a few different options.

On the left side, we have the free versions of either DaVinci Resolve 19, which is the last version of Da Vinci Resolve, or the latest Da Vinci Resolve 20 public beta. If you're in the middle of working on a project, you probably don't want to install the beta version because, being beta, they're testing things out still—it could crash, there could be glitches. Download it at your own discretion.

Personally, I like to stay up to date with all of the new stuff coming out in Da Vinci Resolve, so I downloaded it. It's been fine for me so far—knock on air. And just to be safe, whenever I upgrade, I make sure I've saved a backup of all of my projects. If you want to learn how to do that, let me know in the comments below.

I'll click to download the free version for Mac. You're going to be asked to fill out some stuff here, and you can then click on "Register and Download" on the bottom right.

If you're on the Studio version, what you want to do is go over to Studio 20. I'll click on Mac 'cause I'm on a Mac. Instead of filling out all this info, enter your serial number here. Hopefully, you have it saved somewhere and it's easy to find. And instead of clicking "Register and Download," you can click "Download Only" on the bottom left.

Okay, when this window pops up, click on this Da Vinci Resolve 20 zip file. Your system might save it by default to your Downloads folder. My computer asks me where I'd like to save it—I'm fine with my desktop. Click Save. It's going to take a bit to download.

When Resolve's downloaded, you'll see a zip folder wherever you saved it. On a Mac, you can just double-click on the zip folder. On a PC, I believe you can right-click and choose "Extract All."

Okay, now we have this Da Vinci Resolve .DMG file, and on Windows I believe it would be a .exe file. We can delete the zip folder. Double-click on this file to open it up. Double-click on "Install Da Vinci Resolve."

Continue. Have you ever read every single word of any of this stuff? Do whatever you're comfortable with. I'm comfortable with just continuing and agreeing and signing my life away.

If you see a pop-up window that says, "In order to install Resolve, you must also install these components," you can just checkmark them and hit Install. Or you can also press Customize, which will allow you to check them off here. I'll go back to Standard Install.

So this will take 6.87 GB of space on your computer. Make sure you've got the room for that and press Install. This will take a few minutes to do its thing. In the past, when it's finished, it's asked me to restart my computer, so if you see that prompt, it's fine to restart.

Alrighty, the installation was successful. We can close this. Close this. We don't need this .DMG or .exe file, so we can delete it.

I'm going to get my search bar up and type in Resolve. Click on it to open it up. It might take a minute or two, and they have this "What's New" pop-up window.

In the coming weeks, Will and I will be creating some in-depth tutorials looking at some of these awesome new features, so subscribe to see those when they come out. Press Continue and Start.

And here's my Project window that includes all of the previous projects I worked on in Da Vinci Resolve 19. We can click "Untitled Project" or "New Project" and get started editing.

And there you go. That's how to install Da Vinci Resolve 20. I hope this video was helpful to you. If it was, give us a thumbs up to let us know.
