In this video i'm going to show you how to round the corners of your video clips and how to round the corners of your title backgrounds!

If you're new here i'm alli and will and i release weekly ish videos all about content creation video editing and gear reviews and whenever we come across a problem relating to the new gear that we just got or the latest update of premiere we figure out how to solve that problem and then we create a tutorial on it so you can solve that problem too so to stay in the loop subscribe to our channel

Okay so we're in premiere and i want this clip to have rounded edges with it selected let's go up to effect controls and under opacity click on the rectangle mask bring your cursor to one of the four corners and to keep the proportions of this rectangle while increasing the size hold down shift make sure you see these double arrows click and drag outward so just to quickly show you if you weren't holding down shift and you didn't see those double arrows and then you clicked on one of the edges to adjust the size this would happen and we don't want that so i'm going to undo

i like to be able to see my mask as i'm adjusting it so i'll click mask 1 here and that brings up these blue parameters now let's increase mask expansion and that's how easy it is to give your clip rounded edges i'm happy with mask expansion being around 43 and if we wanted to adjust just one side of our mask while keeping it straight edge we could for example click on this top point here hold down shift select the bottom point as well and drag inward and to make sure i'm adjusting this mask by the same amount on each side with the program monitor selected which you can tell by being highlighted in blue

i'll click on the view drop down menu and choose show rulers and we can now reference these rulers to adjust their mask however we'd like next let's look at how to make a text title on screen have a rounded edge let's press t for our text tool and i'll type vancouver go over to our essential graphics panel select your title i'm going to change the background color to white okay and the fill color to black this slider here allows us to decrease or increase the size of the background okay around 20 is looking good and just under that you'll see this option to create rounded edges i'm liking how 20 is looking and let's check out how this looks.

alright and there you go thanks for checking this video out if you liked it give us a thumbs up to let us know check out our over 100 plus other filmmaking and video editing tutorials and we'll see you in another video.
