Premiere Pro's New REMIX TOOL | Adjust Length of Music FAST with AMAZING RESULTS

Adobe Premiere Pro CC recently introduced the new REMIX TOOL, it allows you to easily and quickly adjust the length of music fast and it produces some amazing results! I couldn’t believe how good of a job it did! It’s not perfect, but it can save you a lot of time! Let’s dive into the new REMIX TOOL feature and I’ll show you how to use it inside Premiere Pro CC!

I've been using the remix tool for a couple months now and it's done a pretty seamless job in fact i don't cut up my music anymore to edit i just use the remix tool right now at the time i'm making this video it's available in the beta version of premiere 20 22.2 if you're watching this video from the future it might already be included in your version of premiere if this is your first time hearing about it remix is a tool that uses ai technology that makes re-timing your music to fit your edit super easy by analyzing the song and then rearranging it the remix tool really is a game changer it's gonna save you a ton of time when you're working with music in your edit that's what we're all about on this channel showing you hacks to save time and be more efficient when you're working in video let's hop into Premiere and take a look at how to use the remix tool.

We're in premiere and i have this video of will and his friend snowboarding on my timeline with a song underneath the song was originally about three times longer than the video edit so i cut it up and rearranged parts of it to try and get it to work well with my edit cutting music this way is time consuming and well it's pretty annoying but the remix tool makes this process much easier here's the full length song before it was cut down to fit my edit let's go over to our toolbar and click and hold on the ripple edit tool this is where you'll find the remix tool okay watch how easy this is let's drag the music inward to where the clip ends and it will take a couple seconds or so to analyze okay there we go and now the song is just a little bit longer than my video edit and sometimes based on the length of your edit you may see the song has extended like a second or so past your edit and in most cases for me at least this isn't really an issue because i tend to have a logo at the end of my video or i fade to black and it works just fine to have a little bit of music fading out past my video clip but it's still something i wanted to mention and still something you should just be aware of so you'll notice on your music track there are these squiggly lines throughout which indicate the areas that the remix has adjusted and made edit points and stitched parts of the music together let's have a listen to these areas and see if we can notice that there has been an edit point made we'll also check out the end of the song to see how it fades out as well.

I don't know about you but i couldn't tell at all by listening to the music that parts of it were spliced together it sound it sounded like it was made that way even the ending worked out really well but if you aren't happy with premiere's sort of default auto remix job you can go in the essential sound panel and under duration you can adjust the segment slider and the variation slider if you move the segment slider further to the left it will use less cuts in your music and if you slide it further to the right it will add more cuts when stitching your music together and with variations if we drag this slider further to the left it enhances the melodics which are the tone and the quality of your music and if you slide it further to the right the harmonics will be affected which will prioritize placing notes together that sound pleasing together and if you're wondering how the remix tool works with vocals in your music let's check it out so we'll have a quick listen to the beginning of this song that has vocals in it before i use remix.

Now i'll grab the remix tool and adjust its duration to fit the clip okay and now let's have a listen where an edit point has been made to see how the lyrics have been adjusted okay so remix kind of blended the words together there they don't really make sense now so let's check out another area in the song where we can see an edits been made okay so that area of the song still works but when you have lyrics that's when things get a little bit more complicated and as you just saw your results are sort of more hit and miss because remix doesn't really know how to put words together so that they make sense so i recommend that you stick with instrumental songs when you're using the remix tool thanks for checking this video out if you liked it give us a thumbs up to let us know and we have over 100 tutorials all about filmmaking on our channel we also release videos weekly ish so subscribe to stay in the loop and we'll see you in another video.
